What happened on 13th May in Soma was not an accident but a result of economic and political regulations. It has been more than a hundred days since reportedly 301 miners were killed. The silence of grief is only broken by the voice of workers and unions.

2010 yılında Şili’de meydana gelen maden kazasından sağ kurtulan madenciler Soma’da hayatını kaybeden madencilerin ailelerini ve arkadaşlarını ziyaret etmek için Türkiye’deydi. Şilili madenciler Soma ve Kınık’ta madenci aileleriyle görüştü ve Dev Maden-Sen üyeleriyle buluştu.

Uluslarararası Sendikalar Konfederasyonu (ITUC) 3. Kongresi Soma’da yaşanan maden faciasını değerlendirdi ve Soma’ya bir heyet gönderme kararı aldı. ITUC “Yaygın taşeron kullanımı, işçi sağlığı ve iş güvenliği önlemlerinin yetersizliği, düşük ücretler ve gerekli denetimlerin yapılmaması” gibi konuların faciaya sebep olduğunu vurguluyor.
