No votes from the workers to the government
Chairman of DISK organized a news statement saying: “No votes from the workers to the government.”
Celebi interpreted the results of the local election held in March 29th, laborers and workers showed that they did not give support to the recent policies of the government.
DISK released a written statement on the local elections. The decrease in the votes of the AKP (Justice and Development Party) government in poor districts of Turkey showed that they did not give support to the policies of the government.
DISK chairman Celebi said “It must be observed that people warned the government that privatizes the state-owned sectors. The government defends policies based on rant distribution, corruption and partisanship and tries to create a “society of beggars” instead of providing equal and fair social assistance and equal municipal services to everyone. He interpreted the results of local elections as a message that opposition to AKP is very much related with a systemic struggle against the poverty and corruption
