Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which is prevalent in the world, has caused high mortality in many parts of the world and, to some extent, can be considered a weapon of mass destruction now. In light of the situation in many countries, it is observed that the uncertainty is still dominant across the world. With regard to the situation in our country, we are concerned about the way, e.g. taking appropriate actions and necessary measurements, the Government deals with the COVID-19.

Virüsün yayılması sadece tıbbi bir kriz değil, aynı zamanda siyasi ve sosyal bir mücadeledir. Hükümetin ekonomik tedbirleri, enformel sektördeki işçilerin, bakıcıların, göçmen işçilerin ve işçi hakları ve sosyal güvenlik ağlarına erişemeyenlerin hayati ihtiyaçlarını dikkate almamaktadır.

Uluslararası Çalışma Örgütü’ne (ILO) göre, Coronavirüs’ü nedeniyle dünya genelinde 25 milyon insan işini kaybedilebilir.

The Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) has released a written statement and offered a series of measures to be taken during coronavirus outbreak so that workers suffer the least harm in this period.

Labor union leaders in Turkey noted the importance of paid time off for older workers and parents as schools are suspended amid the coronavirus outbreak. The unions also pressed that wages and retiree pensions do not provide sufficient resources for workers and retirees to maintain the kinds of healthy diets and sanitary homes that can act as precautions against the coronavirus.
