Job-related deaths in Turkey have increased by ten per cent since the enactment of a state of emergency following a failed coup attempt in July 2016, according to a report by the Workers’ Health and Work Safety Assembly of Turkey (ISIG).

ITUC Genel Sekreter Vekili Jaap Wienen DİSK’in 50. Yıl Etkinliği’nde yaptığı konuşmasında uluslararası sendikal hareketin DİSK’in emek, demokrasi ve barış mücadelesini sonuna kadar desteklediğini vurguladı.

“Turkey has withstood this attempted coup. In its aftermath, it is imperative that President Erdogan and his government respect the fundamental tenets of democracy and international law. The disgraceful and violent actions of one section of the military must not be used as an excuse for further repression of those who oppose the government and are themselves committed to peace, democracy and human rights,” added Burrow.
